Digital Signage is a high tech alternative to conventional information stands.
These systems are used by state and commercial organizations, at the airports, railway stations, hotels, major trade and exhibition centers, medical institutions – wherever there is a need to make information available to a large number of people.
This is a game changing and efficient level of translation to distributed display systems to support centralized announcing, timely informing visitors and employees and advertising.
The solution comprises three main modules:
- Information display subsystem;
- Automatic distributed display and video content streaming control system;
- Electronic queuing subsystem
Display subsystem includesdisplays of various types installed at the project facilities:
- Plasma and LCD displays, including anti-vandal and outdoor versions;
- LED screens displaying information for large public groups both outdoors and indoors;
- Interactive systems (information kiosks, terminals, entertaining interactive systems);
-
Innovative 3D and interactive display systems.
The number of displays and information areas, installation points, size and type of specific displays depend on floor plans and system tasks. Each information area is undependable:
- For specific data display to all groups of users;
- For flexibility and versatility of display arrangement;
- For adaptation to unique features of each specific project.
The main signal source for the subsystem is the automatic information system, which develops, plans, manages and transmits combined and dynamic graphic, video and audio data onto a distributed display system.
The system provides means for development, planning and display in a multi-window mode. The following data can be displayed independently or centrally:
- Information materials: Information on planned and current events, working hours, display of commercial and municipal advertisements, announcement advertising, emergency messages, social advertisements, internet or intranet resources, weather forecasts, exchange rates, business indexes, over-the-air and cable television, news, presentations, etc.
- External systems:Electronic queuing system, event logistics control system, reservation, etc.
- Emergency information:Display of emergency information in automatic or manual mode, e.g. instructions in emergency situations, emergency evacuation diagrams; therewith a separate diagram is displayed for each area depending on the screen location. The automatic mode supposes development of action algorithms and their activation in certain circumstances (e.g. when a fire alarm is activated, etc). In manual mode, activation takes place in response to a command of a security service.
- Text messages:Text messages can be displayed in a separate window of a screen in each area simultaneously with main information. They are generated by operators of respective services. System functionality includes audio messages by information areas.
Main system modules:
- Module of data preparation for broadcasting;
- Module for broadcasting planning and information display;
- Content delivery module;
- Monitoring module;
- Access rights differentiation module.
Due to its modular structure, open architecture and application of widespread development tools and integration mechanisms, the system features almost unlimited capabilities for scaling and functional improvement, interfacing external information and planning systems, including support of majority of existing display tools and information sources.
The Digital Signage system was implemented in the Prefecture of Moscow Central Administrative District as part of the Public and Organizations Service Center and was one of solutions for a comprehensive project for equipment of Moscow Research and Practical Center for Rehabilitation of Disabled with Cerebral Paralysis.
