Internationally Recognized Ergonomics in the Conference Room of Moscow NEAD Prefecture

Two Mitsubishi projectors with the resolution of 1920x1200 pixels and two DNP Supernova 120” enhanced contrast screens have been installed as the main display equipment. Selection of DNP Supernova screens has been inspired by several reasons. The room is well illuminated and therefore standard screens would provide insufficient brightness. Moreover, neighboring LCD displays would make the projector image less bright. Supernova screens solved the problem. It is not necessary to dim out the light to ensure comfortable work, while the image brightness is as good as that of LCD displays. Four additional Mitsubishi 55” LCD displays with the resolution of 1920x1080 pixels have been installed in the Conference Room. Each of the four displays allows displaying user-defined graphics such as presentations, layouts and diagrams and can be comfortably used in VC mode.

The selection of this equipment has been well thought out and based on the rules of ergonomics – the specialists have duly considered Infocomm International recommendations. 55” displays are capable of providing optimal conditions for viewing including large text documents and maximum legibility of materials from any workplace.

The display layout which is comfortable for everybody in the hall is also important. In particular, the displays which are the nearest to the audience have been slightly turned to ensure direct eye line of the participants at the table during VC sessions.

The loudspeaker system has been designed to solve some major tasks including maximum speech intelligibility and playback of presentation sound tracks. For this purpose, the Prefecture Conference Room has been equipped with two-band overhead wall-mounted JBL loudspeaker systems; Crown amplifier mounted on the server rack is used to amplify audio signals while Biamp digital audio processor is used for signal switching and distribution. The system enables flexible automatic or manual volume control in various areas of the room, control of sound parameters during VC as well as elimination of undesired effects such as acoustic feedback, doubling effect, etc.

The workstations in the Hall are equipped with Bosch discussion pads ensuring speaking, participating in VC discussions and sessions. The Chairman’s discussion console has a priority function: upon pressing the speech button all other active microphones are switched off.

The discussion pads and automatic control cameras are synchronized. It is a benefit for VC when video cameras are automatically pointed at the active discussion pad.

The Conference Room table is provided with interactive pads. The Chairman’s pad enables viewing information from the main screens and user-defined secondary information, e.g., speech texts, slides, agenda, as well as introducing changes and graphic comments in the materials presented by speakers and their displaying to other participants.

At the same time the participants at the table can, using the interactive pads, control their presentations, work with user-defined electronic documents and additional information. Image display on individual pads is controlled either by the participant or by the assistant.

Additional cut-in jacks are provided at the Chairman’s workstation and the speaker’s stand for active notebook connection and display its signal, if necessary, on the main and individual screens. Thus, presentations, video or documents can be demonstrated from the Chairman’s or speaker’s notebook directly.

The video signals are transmitted via fiber-optic lines ensuring high quality transmission, absence of interferences from the mains and high level protection against unauthorized access. The Conference Room is equipped with AMX DGX switch-board capable of scaling the image automatically with the built-in SmartScale system with due consideration of the device where the signal is transmitted.

All central equipment is installed in a special rack. This facilitates common access, maintenance and upgrading of the equipment. The server rack incorporates a workstation to display presentations, documents from corporate servers/portals and other materials and data, an operator’s workstation and workstations of delegates using interactive pads in the room. There is also a player to play back Blu-ray and DVD disks.

The room is also equipped with the integrated control system. The touchpads at the operator’s and the chairman’s workstations enable information display on the monitors, making VC calls with a user-friendly interface. Besides, the operator’s table is equipped with test monitors for preview of displayed information and source control.

The intuitive graphic interface specially designed for touchpads ensures easy control by an inexperienced user.

The system administrator can remotely control the equipment, monitor its status and set automatic equipment switching off, e.g. at night.
